Chocolate Peppermint Lip Balm

I love creating fun useful things with my Young Living Essential Oils! Here is how I learned to make my own soothing lip
Lip balm is super simple to make.  You’ll need a glass bowl or glass measuring cup for melting and any add-ins you’d like.

Basic Lip Balm Recipe:

5oz Coconut Oil
2.5oz beeswax

Melt ingredients together and pour into tins.  That’s it!  Simple enough, right?

Southern Scentsabilities’ Chocolate Peppermint Lip Balm Recipe:

5oz Coconut Oil

2.5oz beeswax

1 Vitamin E capsule

6-7 Chocolate Chips (Oh yes, I only use the finest ingredients!)

8-10 drops Young Living Therapeutic Grade Peppermint Essential Oil*

Melt coconut oil and beeswax together. Then break open the vitamin E capsule and squirt into oil mixture.  Add the chocolate chips and stir until completely melted. (Go ahead and sneak a few chocolate chips now, no one will see you)

Lastly, mix in 8-10 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil and pour into small round tins.
 I used these.

See how easy that is?

*I only recommend Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

  1. How many did the one batch make?

  2. I only bought 10 tins - and there was probably enough to make 10 more. I just poured the rest into a 1/2 mason jar. :)

I used the .25oz tins. So, next time I'll just purchase at least 25 - just to play it safe.

    Hope that helps!

  3. Thanks for the recipe! If you left out the chocolate, would it alter the solidity? (Is that even a word? LOL) I think I just want peppermint.

  4. Leslie, it would be totally fine! The basic recipe is just coconut oil and beeswax. From there, the skies the limit! :)

Could these be made in lipstick tubes instead?

  6. Susan, it should work just as well if you prefer the lipstick tubes. You can order those through the same website I linked for the tins and beeswax.

    Have fun!

  8. Melissa,

  13. I just found this recipe on Pinterest. Did you use milk chocolate chips? And if I use just Nestle Tollhouse, would that be okay? Do I choose the baking chips?
